SARĀB

France - Syria

A sonic utopia between original jazz-rock and oriental music

An unlikely Babel candidate, Sarāb constructs an edifice shaped by rock fury, contemporary jazz and traditional Arab music. Nestled in this lofty tower, the vocal timbre of the Franco-Syrian Climène Zarkan sings about otherness, feminism and the cracks that shake Arab and European societies. All this in a veritable rhythmic whirlwind. Against a backdrop of oriental scales and jazzy flights of fancy, Sarāb (“mirage” in Arabic) weaves a sonic utopia that goes straight to the heart.
